A Day of Fun at the Pool...

Monday was a great day of fun at the pool. Amy was in charge of games for the kids (on a side note, Amy and I need to be in charge of less) and she had them completely organized! Below you see a shot of the organized play that was "the watergun fight."

The pool was hopping and there were lots of families enjoying the sunshine. It was nice to see.

And of course what fun would the pool be without the littlest ones exploring. Here is Brooklyn Nelson getting ready to dive in! Those are some sagging britches!

In from the rain...

Ahh...the thunder begins to roll as the rain slows down. We have had a nice day beginning with church, a bit of cleaning up, and then a quick jaunt to the pool.

That was rudely interuppted by some pretty heavy downfalls. Now I am goin to head out on the porch. I love to watch when it rains.

I kind of like this shot because you can actually see the rain bouncing off the driveway. It was really coming down!

An Extra Visitor

This weekend we having an extra visitor at the Hasseman house. His name is Sparky.

If you have seen pictures of my dog Scooter, you know he looks very similar. Sparky is a bit larger and more energetic. When Sparky's owners go out of town, we often keep an eye on him. And Scooter and Sparky have a great time playing together.

This might look like fighting...but this is 24 hour entertainment for these two boys! It's exhausting just to watch!

A Busy Friday

It was a busy Friday for us for a bunch of reasons. First, business has been good here lately (thank goodness!). We love to be busy at Hasseman Marketing...it means we can pay the bills!

Also, both Skylar and Jade took part in the elementary school talent show. Jade was a part of the kindergarten class number. They were all dressed in OSU outfits and had an OHIO song to sing. We like to start brainwashing them early! :)

Skylar and two of her friends choreographed their own song and performed a dance number. They did a nice job of actually dancing together but gave each one time to shine for themselves. It was nice.

After school we went to Skylar's first softball game of the season. She plays in the 7-9 year old league (Skylar is 8). Our team is pretty young...and the team we played looked like the Atlanta Braves. We got a pretty sound thumping...but I actually thought we played quite well.

Then the nice day dictated that we took the girls to the pool for a bit. It was a nice day for it...and according to the girls the water was actually pretty warm.

Has it been 15 years?

Based on the simple math of a communications major, I believe this will be the year of our 15 year class reunion. I helped with the planning of our 10 year reunion...and it was a really nice time.

I need to get started with "the gang" from the last reunion planning committee. So if any of you read this blog, let me know!

And of course if you have any ideas for reunion events...let me know that too!

A Trip to Rainbow Hills

One of the very best things about creating Inside Coshocton each month, is that I get the chance to see some of the coolest things about Coshocton County. Today was especially cool in that regard.

Today we traveled to Rainbow Hills Winery to highlight the winery and new bed and breakfast for Inside Coshocton. I have long said that Rainbow Hills is a "hidden gem" here...and that is still true. But we love to take a group of friends out to enjoy the beautiful nature, and soak up the atmosphere.

It's a place where you cook your own steak (or chicken). And though some folks wrinkle their nose at having to cook for themselves, you quickly learn it is part of the experience. In our groups, the men go up and cook and the ladies discuss pertinent local topics (i.e. the men!).

And a quick note about the new bed and breakfast...wow! The pictures don't do it justice. So if you haven't checked it out yet...do.

And since the rest of this has been a commercial...here's the number! (740) 545-9305.

A day of mourning...

I found out in church today that my good friend, Kevin Johnson, passed away last night. Let's just say it was a more tearful service than I was expecting.

Kevin was full of fun with an amazing sense of humor and a zest for life. He was a great friend to me. Maybe better than I deserve.

His family has requested I do a reading at his memorial service and I am honored to do it. I will miss...I already do.

A good family day...

Saturday was a really good day at the Hasseman abode. Amy and I worked on the outside of the house while the girls played with friends. We added a cool water feature to the landscaping which both Amy and I love. And of course we did the mulcing, weeding, etc. that comes with a day like that.

We also added a pair of suncatchers to the front. They are difficult to explain...but we got them on vacation in Florida. As they spin, each piece reflects the light sequentially and it almost looks like it lights up. Very cool.

Finally we took the girls to see Shrek the Third here at the local theater.

Let me say, if you have children it probably does enhance the experience...but that movie is funny! Not to mention if you have any appreciation for animation, then you will be amazed. Thumbs up!

Amy's Back!

So this last week I played Mr. Mom. Amy was out of town at a conference and I had the chance to do both jobs for the week. I think it went pretty well (though you'd really have to ask the girls to be sure!) but I am certainly glad to have Amy back!

Organized Play!

Although some find it strange, Amy and I are each helping with a new program called PAX play, that helps kids at the school with "organized play."

The program is designed to help kids with positive play on the playground. This organized play allows for positive interaction with adults in the community, and is supposed to help decrease acts of aggression and violence in kids.

On Wednesday Amy and Heather Guess (our super realtor and friend) were on the playground playing with the kids. And since Amy is the media hound these days, the Tribune caught them in the act. They have some nice photos...and a great story as well!

Check it out!

Plundering & Pillaging

One of the highlights of the entire trip for the girls was the last full day. We went on a Pirate Ship! It was a great trip for the girls...and Amy and I got 2 hours on a boat.

It was actually quite cool. The staff on the ship entertained the girls with pirate stories, treasure hunts, face painting and other fun. The adults got quiet time...and free beer.

What more can we want?

More fun in the sun...

We had another great day in Florida where we spent another day at the pool. It's great to have both options because there are different adventures the girls can have at each.

I, on the other hand, did what I do best...nothing.

A Day at The Beach!

The first full day in Florida was a good one. We had a chance to relax...but tried to do EVERYTHING too!

Our condo was really nice! I give Amy the credit for booking the place (though she took a LONG time :) to do it). It was beautiful 1 bedroom condo with 2 baths...and a place for the girls on a pullout couch. We also had a fantastic view of the ocean and pool from the deck. Great stuff!

Since it was our first day, we did the normal looking for shells, building sandcastles, swimming and fun.

We were on the gulf side so the water was relatively warm and extremely calm. In the morning you would look out and not see any whitecaps...it was amazing.

What is boils down to is the girls had a great time...and the parents had a chance to relax!

It's a busy time to Blog!

It's a busy time for the Blog! Last week I had absolutely nothing for you...now I am bursting with information! Here is the latest Inside Coshocton for May! Please don't hesitate to let me know what you think! This month we feature the new Progress Center here in Coshocton County.

Another From the Trip

I am going to update you on the trip here on the blog! This one is a picture I took at Crabby Bill's Restaurant on the last night we were there. I took it on my phone...and now this is the picture on the face of my phone!

Good stuff!

So I have a great excuse...

I know it's been a week or so...but I have a great excuse for not posting. I was out of the state on vacation...so there!

Actually I was planning on posting each day on vacation to show you what I was up too. But since my wife thought I was nuts for telling the world that we were out of town and (probably more importantly) it was going to cost be $.35 a minute on the computer...I said...nah!

But my family and I spent 5 days last week in Florida! I am going to update you with many pictures from the camera...but thought I would start with just a few from my phone. The view from the room was great...and the gulf coast was beautiful and calm.

As you can imagine, the girls had a great time. Jade had not been to the beach since she was 3 months old and neither had ever flown on an airplane...so it was a week of firsts.

And I must say I needed a week to recharge. And my favorite time at the beach is the sunset. There is just nothing like it.
