The New Show
I have not posted much...but not because of a lack of things going on. I have been busy working on the new show. The latest edition of Inside Coshocton will be out on the first Saturday in March. Be on the lookout for highlights from the Career Center open house, Neil Jacobs performance at the Pomerene, the chocolate extravaganza and more. I also had a chance to talk with the new Port Authority Director T.J. Justice. So make sure to check it out!
Another performance
Miss Jennifer's Elite Dance force peformed at the Zanesville Mall today in front of a nice crowd. The space was tight, but the dancers did a terrific job of adjusting to their surroundings.
On an editorial note, Miss Jennifer does a truly amazing job with this group. She provides these girls opportunities and experiences that they likely would not have otherwise had.
Not only that, but I am always impressed by the way the older dancers support the younger dancers. The young girls really look up to them and they don't disappoint. I think that is a testament to Jennifer's leadership of the group.
So say "thanks" the next time you see Jennifer here in town. She makes Coshocton County a better place.

It's been a while
Since my last post. It's not that nothing has been going on...but a lot has. I have been doing some blogging, but it has been to keep up with my workout regimine. So wish me luck with that.
The grumblings I am hearing right now is that the city should not accept the gift of the JII building. I have a different opinion. I want to get your input (if you have any) and then I will throw out my thoughts!

The wonder of winter
So a friend of mine was out of town last week in Florida. I have GOT to get their travel planner...who knew? Anyway, while they were enjoying the sun, beach and boat drinks, we were here shoveling out of the snow. So while they were gone, we thought it might be very neighborly if we shoveled out their driveway for them. (I know what you are thinking...it would have been neighborly if they would have taken us with them!)
In doing so, I came across this collection of impressive icicles hanging from their roof. Sometimes it is tough to enjoy this weather through the constant clenching, but this was pretty cool.

It's time to start...again
So I was a little different in that I started my new year's resolution early. I started working out and watching what I was eating during the holiday season. It was going extremely well until the new year. Then I got in the middle of business trips (to Vegas) levy committees, and a business rush. And I fell out of the work out habit.
It's time to get back into it.
I have said I would try to do a triathalon on May 19th. That leaves me 12 weeks to get into race shape. I am going to begin using my training blog again...so hopefully that will help to keep me accountable. On this I try to honestly account for what I eat and how much I exercise. Wanna keep me working?
kirbyintraining.blogspot.com is the address!
Wish me luck!

Dig in...er...Out!
Well I think it's official. We are all stir crazy. This afternoon the kids in the neighborhood all braved the frosty temperatures to get out and play in the snow. As you might be able to tell from these pictures, they used the slabs of ice to build a "fort." Pretty impressive if you ask me!
Amy and I went out for a while too to shovel the drive way. You know we are bored when we stoop to manual labor!
Bright White
I am not sure this shot shows it, but it was actually hard to see outside because it was bright. The snow continues to fall out my office window, and I am ready to get out in it!
My bride and I have radically different ideas on how to deal with this weather. She wants to snuggle up and hide (not a bad idea by the way) and I want to go play in it! I have done the snuggling thing...now it's time to go have some fun!

What a great weekend!
Wow! Amy booked a weekend getaway for the family this past weekend. So we packed up the car (without the girls knowing) and headed west to Cherry Valley Lodge. For those of you who don't know, they created a family swimming meca in Coco Key there inside the facility.
We arrived there Friday evening and the girls still thought we were going shopping. What followed was the best weekend I have had in some time. The girls repeatedly told us we were "awesome." I told them it was about time they noticed!
What follows are some great pictures of a great weekend! We highly recommend this for family getaways. And as you can see from the pics...dad had lots of fun too!
I know what you are thinking about now...where is Amy? Well if you know her at all, she would MUCH rather take pictures than ride water slides. So we all had fun this weekend. Amy got to take some great shots...and for the most part...was warm. But how cute is this next one?
There are more...but that certainly is a good start. We did two nights at the lodge. I think we could have gotten away with one night. I say that only for your knowledge...we wouldn't have changed a thing!

Put the pizza down...and step away!
So an old friend from Longaberger just relocated positions and I was meeting with her today. Cammie Morrow just accepted a new marketing position for Hopewell Federal Credit Union in Heath.
Anyway, we were in her office discussing marketing options for a new grand opening for them when...I started to sink. What the...!
I caught myself halfway down and realize the chair had just collapsed right under me! I would type more...but it's time to get on the treadmill!
Today is a new day!
Though the frustration has not worn off (as my wife will tell you), I know it's time to get back to "controlling the things I can control" again. I got a dose of reality when my oldest daughter told me she was sorry for me because the levy failed. She was sorry for me! That kind of put things in perspective for me.
It's time for me to remember to put "first things first." So I will take some joy in the day that is today. Have a good one folks!

5 Reasons To Vote Yes!
Here is a nice editorial in the Coshocton Tribune about the need to vote YES on February 6th for the schools.
Get out and Vote!
A Big Night In C-Town
After working much of the day yesterday while my wife slaved away making the house look nice (a point of some contention in the Hasseman house, by the way), it was time for some recreation last night.
First, we went to the Coshocton High School Boys Basketball game where Coshocton was taking on Utica. The boys took a big first half lead and held on to win. It had been LONG time since I had been to a boys basketball game in my old stomping grounds, so that was a lot of fun.
At halftime of the game, my girls were part of an enormous group of children that performed. The Miss Jennifer's Dance Camp and the Miss Jennifer's Elite Dance force performed. What fun! The Elite Dance force peformed the same number they did when they peformed for the Cavs game. The dance camp group performed "Push it" from the new disney movie. Good stuff.
Finally, we hustled over to a friends house across the street for a night of fun and discussion! We solved most of the worlds, states, and community's problems...I just hope someone wrote those solutions down!

As a matter of fact, I am a nerd!
I know, you already knew that! But it was official (to me anyway!)when I got excited when I learned that J.K. Rowling has announced the publication date of the new Harry Potter book! See?
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the last of seven installments of the boy wizard's adventures, will be published July 21, author J.K. Rowling said Thursday. The author has said that two characters will die in the new book...and she has even gone so far as to say that Harry might not survive!
Okay...stop with the jokes! But if you have not had a chance to read these books, you should! They are not "just for kids." I read a lot and I have thoroughly enjoyed each of these.
And hey...if you like the movies (of course I do!) the new one is scheduled to be released July 13th. Click here to check out the new trailer!
Okay...go ahead with your jokes now!
